Red Tiger Gaming is known for trying new things. It has not always been successful, but when Red Tiger Gaming gets it right, they have been known to create magic. The Equalizer is one that Red Tiger Gaming has really hit out of the park. The game offers players some great features, wonderful visuals and top-class music – but what is so special about this game?

    The numbers

The numbers are what always brings in players. A huge range of features and fantastic graphics are always good to have, but without big wins and plenty of chances to create those big wins, they mean very little at the end. Fortunately, The Equalizer has a good range of features, fantastic graphics and the numbers to back them both up!

First up, the game starts with a pretty standard 15 paylines. However, as the game moves forward, the number of paylines can increase to a maximum of 60! This gives it plenty of ways to create wins and is very likely to impress players. It also has a high variance in place – this means that wins are a bit less common than in some other games, but when they arrive, they are huge. This is proven by the maximum payout on The Equalizer hitting an eye-watering 10,000 times your stake. As a payout, this is one of the biggest for regular video slots on the market. In fact, it is only really progressive slots that can compete with this kind of payout.

     Visually impressive

The first thing that you notice about The Equalizer when you start playing is just how great it looks. Everything has a neon, retro shine to it. All of the symbols glow and really stand out, and the background is the visual embodiment of the 80s. It is a guaranteed trip down memory lane, but without looking old. It manages to skate the thin line between being retro and being dated. It stands up to almost every other title on the market in terms of visuals. There is also an equalizer bar at the bottom of the reels that bounces in time with the music, and this adds a nice extra layer to the game.

What really helps too is just how smooth the reels are. They move in time with the bar at the bottom, which gets excited when certain things happen – but more about that later. In terms of visuals, it matches up well to other top titles on the market, such as Rich Wilde and the Book of the Dead.

    Expanding Equalizer Wild

At random times, the Equalizer causes the Wild to expand. At its maximum, it takes up the entirety of an expanded reel with 6 spaces. Since the Wild is on an arrow, it only expands upwards, so to get the maximum 6-space Wild, you need to have the Wild symbol stop on the very last row.

    Expanding Reels and Rows

The Wilds are also not the only symbols that expand. The reels also expand. They can stretch out to the right, stretch upwards, or even both at the same time. If both happen, then you can get the maximum possible size of the Equalizer at 7 reels with 6 rows.

Of course, with more reels, rows, and paylines, you also stand a chance at hitting bigger combos and larger pay-outs.

    Equalizer Free Spins

When you manage to land 3 Free Spins symbols, you enter Free Spin mode. You play with 10 Free Spins. Here, all your Wilds and expanded reels and rows stay until the end of the Free Spins. They don’t lose their expansions throughout the duration of the Free Spins.

Additionally, the ever-expanding Wild symbol may also be moved side-to-side by the speakers that blast music at the two ends of the slot. While in Free Spins mode, some of the drops even include additional Free Spins, extending the beat.

Equalizer: Remixing the Slot Game Formula

An electronic Synthwave experience—the Equalizer will keep your heart pumping. Its heavy bass and electric grooves are ready for the nightclub. The surreal aesthetic gives vivid images of a future with laser-like visuals. What completes it is its utilization of pixelated visuals, with bright pink and blue shades of neon.

Retro has never looked so good.

The beat changes whenever you edge closer to hitting those 10 Free Spins. It's only improved by the complete change in the musical score when you finally do. From a nighttime view in the city, it brings you to a sunset at the beach, complete with a twilight backdrop and hot pink palm trees. Looking closer, there’s even the silhouette of Saturn in the background.

    Equalizer: Fade to Black

Red Tiger has remixed the iconic sub-genre of electronic music and the way casino slot games work. With a sensual combination of power and rhythm, it’s uncommon to find a game that’s both musically-focused and adrenaline-pumping. Red Tiger has stayed loyal to the audio-visual aesthetic.

You won’t regret taking a night out—gliding through the city on a cybernetic neon trip, induced by nothing else but the game alone.

Music is a great equalizer and if music is what you’re after then check out Mystery Reels and Vicky Ventura. They’re two games with a great focus on both music and visuals.

Plus, the game contains stacked wilds and a free spins feature where wilds and expanded reels remain locked in place for the spin duration.

The Equalizer has a neon look to the visuals with a futuristic-looking cityscape behind the reels. The base setup has five reels and four rows that combine to offer fifteen paylines.

On those reels, players will see the hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades icons plus the usual video slot paraphernalia of stars, bars, dice and diamonds. The best-paying icon is the yellow sports car. Players’ landing three, four, five, six or seven of these for a payout of x9, x18, x36, x72 or even x150 a players stake.

To get those six symbol winners, you’ll need to see The Equalizer expands the game engine to a maximum of 7 reels and six rows. In the original primary game, those expanded reels are in play for the current spin only known as the Expanding Slot round. The Equalizer also contains a wild, extending and turning up to six icons wild – this is known as the Expanding Wilds feature.

Players who land three Free Spins icons on the same spin activate the Free Spins feature - will then receive ten free spins. However, if they land an expanding wild during the round and then they will lock in position for the remainder of their free spins.

The Wild symbols do also move left or right in time with the speakers pumping out the eclectic soundtrack to the sides of the reels. It’s a comparable story with the expanded game engine that is also in play throughout this round. Players should look out for the spin scatter icon as this will add one more free spin to their tally – with no limits.

Shapeshifting slots are all the rage at the moment, and while The Equalizer might not have all the bells and whistles players want from a MegaWays video slot, the expanding reels offer some variety. That’s undoubtedly the case in the Free Spins round where the additional paylines and sticky wilds can come into play.

The Equalizer is definitely worth a punt then if players love shapeshifting games.
