Medusa 2: the Quest of Perseus

Created by the wizards at NextGen Gaming, Medusa 2 is another Ancient Greece inspired game based on the female nemesis Medusa. Yet this game is no Greek Tragedy - with 5 reels and 243 pay lines; symbols including a helmet, quiver with arrows, snakes, gold rings and various high card symbols makes Medusa 2 a bitcoin game to be reckoned with.

Medusa II: Live the Myth

In this game, you take on the role of Perseus, the legendary hero, and venture into the terrible lair of Medusa, which is already filled with stone statues that had once been brave warriors but were turned into stone by Gorgon's deadly gaze. As the reels spin, you get a first-person view of your character moving through the firelit ruins of a temple as if you were playing an adventure game.

The basic symbols that land on the reels are the four card symbols (Jack, Queen, King, Ace), and the higher-level symbols are a dagger, a mace, a torch, a shield, and a helmet with a sword. The portrait of Perseus himself is a Wild symbol. The game’s special features are the Stone Reels feature, the Pot Selection feature, the Soul Stone Collection feature, and the Free Spins feature.

Stone Reels Feature

The feature is triggered when 1, 2 or 3 intertwined stone snakes appear on the reels, covering the whole reel. The snakes may bring with them a red Soul Stone (1 or 2 of these) or a Blue Potion. When the reels stop spinning, the stone snakes are shattered revealing any random symbols, except for the Wild or Stacked Wild ones.

Pots Selection Feature

The feature is launched when three Pots land on the reels. You can then choose one of these, and, if you chose right, the Pot will reveal a Soul Stone, a Blue Potion, a cash prize, or a respin. The cash prizes hidden in the pots range between 1 to 5 times the bet that you have placed for the spin that triggered the Pots Selection.

Soul Stone Collection Feature

If Fortune smiles at you, you can collect 3 red Soul Stones and unlock the Free Spins Feature as a reward. Above the reels, there is a Blue Meter that shows the number of games left to you before all Soul Stones disappear.

Beware of the malicious Medusa who is likely to attempt to destroy the Soul Stone. If she appears when there is no winning combination on the reels, the Soul Stone is destroyed. However, if there is a win with the basic symbols, the Stone remains. If the winning combination includes the Helmet, the Shield, the Torch, the Mace or the Dagger, Perseus springs forward to attack the hideous creature and gains the Soul Stone.

If you have received a Blue Potion in the Pots Selection game or from the Stone Reel, 3 more games are added to the Meter. At the end of the Free Spins game or when the Blue Meter is emptied, all the Soul Stones disappear, and the Blue Meter is restored to 12 cells.

Free Spins Feature

When the well-chosen pot unlocks the Free Spins feature for you, you begin with ten free spins. However, Medusa will come forth, and Perseus will have to engage in a battle with her. You can see your hero’s progress as the HP bar displayed above Medusa gets smaller.

If a winning combination including a Helmet, a Shield, a Torch, a Mace or a Dagger lands on your reels, Perseus attacks again, and Medusa’s HP is further reduced by the amount based on the size of your win. If one or more Wild Perseus’ portrait appears, Gorgon immediately turns the reels holding those symbols into stone. They will remain petrified during the following free spin. After that, these reels are transformed into the Stacked Wild symbol and remain in that state for 3 more free spins.

If during these ten free pins, Medusa runs out of her Hit Points, she is defeated, and you are rewarded with five more free spins. After Perseus has defeated the monster, he spins his great shield and reveals the number of the Wild symbols (1, 2, 3, 5, 7 or 9) that will be randomly added to the reels.

How to play the Medusa 2 slot game
Before taking on the Greek goddess like monster Medusa you'll need to adjust your bets accordingly.

The red and blue "up/down arrows" buttons aid you in setting your coins range, anywhere between 0.02 and 4.

Wild symbol
Medusa herself is embodies the Wild symbol and hitting the symbol on the reel displays a mesmerising animation, much like the monster herself in Ancient Greece. The Wild symbol can replace all other symbols in the game excluding the Scatter.

The Medusa 2 logo is the Scatter symbol, and any wins you make on this symbol are multiplied with platers bets. Landing three or more scatters will activate the free spins bonus round! 

Medusa’s Locked Reels Feature
During the base game and free spins feature, you can activate Medusa’s Locked Reels feature. This feature locks either reels two, three, four or five and once they stop spinning and display the same symbol, players are awarded some huge winnings, should they pull off this lucky combination.

As discussed, hitting three or more scatter symbols activates the free spins feature, with players being awarded up to 10 free spins (which can be reactivated later in the game, but you'll lose five spins, so only receiving five free spins).

If a solider appears on the reel and begins to duel with Medusa, and she subsequently turns him to stone, then a stack of Wilds appears on the reel concerned - this is the Turn to Stone Stacked Wild feature. 

Gamble feature
Lastly, if you land a winning combination then you can take advantage of the Gamble feature by pressing the "Heart&Clubs" button. Why would you do this? Well, you could stand to either double or quadruple your winnings. 

All you have to do is guess the colour of the card - do so and you will double your winnings. Go one further and guess the suit, you stand to quadruple your winnings! Beware though, make a wrong guess and you lose everything! The game limits you to five correct guesses.

The first thing that strikes you about the game is the astonishing quality of the video. The game trailer is an actual 3D action movie, and the gameplay loses none of the excellence. It is beautiful and dynamic, and keeps your eyes glued to the screen, as there are two stories unraveling in front of you simultaneously: the story on your reels, and the adventure of Perseus. The extra features are fun, and the chances of a big win are high.

This is definitely a game worth trying your hand at, both for the winnings and for the sheer visual delight.
